    Testimonials

Our home had water in the basement and problems with cracking sheet rock. We had multiple foundation contractors give us bids in repairing and fixing our foundation. All wanting to go with push piers. Absolute foundation repair suggested soil sampling before moving forward. So glad we had the sampling done. It showed we had heaving soil’s and push peers wasn’t the solution. This saved us thousands of dollars as we were able to fix our home on our own. Dusty helped us by loaning us needed equipment to make some of the repairs. We appreciated his honesty and finding the best way to repair our home.

What a remarkable company! The professionals at Absolute Foundation Repair were able to diagnose not only the problem with my foundation but also problems with both my plumbing and HVAC systems (problems three different plumbers mis-diagnosed). These gentlemen really know their stuff! They were prompt, efficient, courteous, thorough, and honest. I wouldn’t dream of hiring a different team of foundation specialists. I immediately put them on my list of go-to repair professionals, and you should too!

We have a beautiful new home that has had some settling issues. Dusty, Dace, and Josh have helped us through this process, one step at a time. They were willing to drive a pier to give us an idea of how far down bedrock was. This helped us know we were on target with approximate depths. Dusty talked with us about options and helped us stay within our budget. Josh and Dace were considerate during the time our family was home. They kept spaces clean and worked hard. I would definitely recommend absolute foundation repair!

Absolute helped us with a 7 inch lift and stabilization on a home with a full basement. We had a wet winter and spring. They were able to be resourceful and continue working throughout the bad weather. This home had settled because of bad drainage. They were able to come up with a plan to excavate and re-design the landscaping so water will no longer end up around the house.

    EZ Executive | March-April 2019

Absolute foundation repair has helped us with three unique projects. Each with specific challenges. The first home they helped us with was in bad shape. It required a 9 inch lift and had lots of interior damage. They did the lift and brought the house back to where it needed to be. They also did a massive excavation to help with surface drainage and slope Stabilization. Happy we were able to work with absolute to save this beautiful home.

Originally we hired another foundation contractor, only to find out the warranty they offered wasn’t any good. Absolute helped us lift a home after dealing with a difficult situation. They help us stay in our original budget and reasonable timeline. They always finish the last detail as new concrete is poured and finished after piers are placed and the home is lifted.

Signs That You Need to Call Foundation Specialists Right Away

Foundation damage is a severe problem that can affect your home and trigger a myriad of reactions that may be hard to manage correctly. Thankfully, the best foundation specialists in Salt Lake City, Utah can help you out in many ways. At Absolute Foundation Repair, we have years of experience and can help you spot any of these signs and fix them for you if your home needs help.

Rotating Walls Outside of the House

Foundation specialists usually tell homeowners that they need help if they start to notice rotating walls outside of their homes. This problem often occurs because the foundation sinks and shifts the position of the house. As the house drops on the damaged foundation, the walls begin to move, change location, and likely end up getting cracked in various different spots around their structure and in other areas.

As a result, you need to check for any of these signs as they develop to ensure that you don’t experience any problems. In most cases, you should spot these problems quite quickly and have no difficulties managing them properly. Just as importantly, you are likely to spot other symptoms that may be a clear sign that your home’s foundation is in grave danger.

    Cracks Near the Basement Walls

Next, you need to look for cracks on the outside of your basement, as these often spread up from the foundation and cause a myriad of damage problems that can be quite hard to handle. In most cases, these cracks are typically noticeable first on the inside. However, if you are already outside checking for wall rotation, you may as well look for cracks here as well throughout your home.

Typically, the cracks are going to vary in shape and size, depending on the severity of the problem. Smaller cracks shouldn’t be considered a more minor problem. They are simply just the beginning of a developing issue and must be treated as such. Unfortunately, it is often quite hard to identify these small cracks at first and may require you to contact a professional right away to get help.

    Problems With Connective Areas

If your home has connective areas – such as a pathway to the garage – that is not connected to the home’s foundation, you should check near these areas for possible damage. That’s because a house with foundation damage may sink and cause imperfections where these areas meet. As a result, foundation specialists can figure out what is happening and take proactive steps to protect you and your family from the dangers of a failing home foundation.

Pay attention to where these areas connect with your home to spot the most visible signs of damage. Look for cracks, uneven connections, and other symptoms to spot potential issues. Just as importantly, you need to look at the windows and the doors, as these are often the most apparent spots that you’ll see foundation damage. That leads us to our next few sections, which focus on interior imperfections.

    Door and Window Problems

Moving into your home, you first need to check your doors to see how well they shut. Do they close quickly, or have they become oddly stuck or poorly-fitted to their frames? If so, there’s a good chance that you have real foundation damage. If you don’t notice doors struggling in their frames, pay attention to any that may close without warning. Doors that slam shut on their own power often do so due to a shifted home structure.

And your windows are likely going to struggle to shut appropriately because they won’t fit in their frame correctly. As the foundation damage spreads and worsens, you’re even likely to find it nearly impossible to open your windows. When this problem happens, you need to contact foundation specialists right away. That’s because the damage has become so severe that your home is starting to shift in unexpected ways.

    Cracked Drywall and Sheetrock

After checking the exterior walls of your home for severe damage, it is time to move to the interior ones as well. The drywall and your sheetrock may even crack before your exterior walls. That’s because they are made of less-sturdy material and may be more prone to damage. That said, they may also crack after your exterior walls because the stress may be centered on the outside of the home.

That’s what makes diagnosing this problem so challenging. You may not notice symptoms in one area and assume that you are okay. However, another spot in the home may have developed these issues without you even realizing it. Therefore, you need to make sure that you stay on top of this problem by working with high-quality professionals right away. These experts will take steps to ensure that your home doesn’t get damaged.

    Floor Problems

Lastly, it would help if you looked to your floors to spot any damage that may be spreading here. For example, you may see cracks throughout your floor that spread and get wider as your home settles down. These cracks can appear in just about any floor but often, oddly, seem higher up. That’s because the shifting of the foundation may put more stress on these delicate areas and cause damage to their surface.

However, it would help if you also watched for uneven floors throughout your home. Foundation specialists will usually tell you that this sign is not a good one. Uneven floors show that there is a complete foundation failure occurring in your home. As a result, you are likely to need more extensive repairs that handle every aspect of this concern. And you’ll also need to pay special attention to other types of floor problems to further prevent damage.
