    Testimonials

Our home had water in the basement and problems with cracking sheet rock. We had multiple foundation contractors give us bids in repairing and fixing our foundation. All wanting to go with push piers. Absolute foundation repair suggested soil sampling before moving forward. So glad we had the sampling done. It showed we had heaving soil’s and push peers wasn’t the solution. This saved us thousands of dollars as we were able to fix our home on our own. Dusty helped us by loaning us needed equipment to make some of the repairs. We appreciated his honesty and finding the best way to repair our home.

What a remarkable company! The professionals at Absolute Foundation Repair were able to diagnose not only the problem with my foundation but also problems with both my plumbing and HVAC systems (problems three different plumbers mis-diagnosed). These gentlemen really know their stuff! They were prompt, efficient, courteous, thorough, and honest. I wouldn’t dream of hiring a different team of foundation specialists. I immediately put them on my list of go-to repair professionals, and you should too!

We have a beautiful new home that has had some settling issues. Dusty, Dace, and Josh have helped us through this process, one step at a time. They were willing to drive a pier to give us an idea of how far down bedrock was. This helped us know we were on target with approximate depths. Dusty talked with us about options and helped us stay within our budget. Josh and Dace were considerate during the time our family was home. They kept spaces clean and worked hard. I would definitely recommend absolute foundation repair!

Absolute helped us with a 7 inch lift and stabilization on a home with a full basement. We had a wet winter and spring. They were able to be resourceful and continue working throughout the bad weather. This home had settled because of bad drainage. They were able to come up with a plan to excavate and re-design the landscaping so water will no longer end up around the house.

    EZ Executive | March-April 2019

Absolute foundation repair has helped us with three unique projects. Each with specific challenges. The first home they helped us with was in bad shape. It required a 9 inch lift and had lots of interior damage. They did the lift and brought the house back to where it needed to be. They also did a massive excavation to help with surface drainage and slope Stabilization. Happy we were able to work with absolute to save this beautiful home.

Originally we hired another foundation contractor, only to find out the warranty they offered wasn’t any good. Absolute helped us lift a home after dealing with a difficult situation. They help us stay in our original budget and reasonable timeline. They always finish the last detail as new concrete is poured and finished after piers are placed and the home is lifted.

    Waterproofing Companies Salt Lake City

    Methods Used By Waterproofing Companies

Water damage in a home can spread rapidly, cause damage to various areas of your house, and lead to mold, mildew, and other damaging growths. Thankfully, the best waterproofing companies in Salt Lake City, Utah can help. These professionals fully understand the types of repairs necessary to improve your home. And if you contact us at Absolute Foundation Repair, you can get the insight required to protect your home for good. Each of the techniques discussed below can be used alone or together to produce a masterful level of home protection.

    Interior Repairs

This method is one of the most common methods used by waterproofing companies. There are a few reasons why it is so common. First of all, it focuses on getting water out of the house that has already flowed inside. Therefore, you usually see this type of waterproofing when a basement or a home has previously flooded. And, consequently, you need to get the water out, and then you must waterproof the interior to avoid this issue again.

If you hear a waterproofing expert refer to a technique as “negative side,” they are referring to the inside method. Usually, this option is the easiest and least expensive option because it works on the problems in the house. In almost every case, the issues that lead to flooding inside of a home are less severe than those that trigger floods and heavy water flow on the outside of the house.

For example, problems such as cracks in a foundation are – though not problematic – at least easier to perform than some outside repairs. And minor imperfections in a wall’s structure may also be simpler to repair and manage than those same issues outside of a house. Therefore, this method is often the first step for waterproofing a home and keeping it free from any type of water damage.

Are there downsides to this method? Typically, it doesn’t manage any of the issues on the outside of a home that causes flood and water damage. As these concerns are usually more persistent and damaging than those on the inside of a home, interior repairs often have the feel of a temporary fix. As a result, you may want to talk to waterproofing companies near you about other methods as well.

    Exterior Fixes

The opposite of interior or negative side fixes, exterior, or positive side repairs focus on the outside of a home and work to prevent it from affecting a house. By far, this technique is the best way to waterproof a home because it allows you to install a barrier on the outside that keeps water out. This method varies in a myriad of styles and can be used in surprisingly different ways.

For example, this method – used by many different waterproofing companies – uses many different techniques to achieve positive results. The first step involves repairing the cracks that occur on the outside of a home and let water into a foundation. Various types of sealants are often added to these areas to ensure that they are reliable and protected from severe damage to a home.

Then, waterproofing experts move on to sloping your dirt so that water runs away from your home. This option helps to ensure that you don’t get a lot of moisture soaking into your soil and triggering foundation damage. Many professionals even install water barriers around a home that blocks water, but be prepared to pay thousands of dollars more for this beneficial technique for your home.

And remember – many exterior repairs will require excavation to manage the water flow properly. Excavation utilizes a trench and a perimeter drain installed underground to move water away from your home. This method is one that should be used only when necessary. That’s because it can be very destructive to your yard and require a lot of work to install soil properly back into the hole. That said, this option is the most potent way of keeping a home waterproof and safe.

    French Drains

Despite its name, this method of waterproofing a basement did not come from France. Instead, it is named after Henry Flagg French, a designer who created this unique process to help protect foundations from damage. A growing number of people are considering this waterproofing method because of the different ways that it protects a home and the other benefits that it provides.

First of all, this method requires you to install a hole or trench in your concrete foundation that carefully moves water to other areas and away from your home. As these trenches are designed to slant away from the house, they work automatically and produce a high-quality level of protection. Note: your drain may not have the French brand but is, in operation, precisely the same as a French drain.

Beyond this trench, a sump pump is also necessary to pump water out of your basement. Usually, it pumps the water into the drainage trench to get it away from your house completely. Thankfully, these systems are often self-regulatory and only require a little maintenance every year. They are also quite efficient, which makes them a favorite of many waterproofing companies around the nation.

The downside of an approach like this is that you have to add a vapor barrier inside of your home as well. This barrier goes up against the interior of your walls and stops a buildup of water throughout the house. If you don’t add this barrier, you’ll get condensation in the wall that affects its strength and quality. Though beneficial, this process does add a little cost to your waterproofing, so keep that factor in mind before you invest in a French drain for your house.
